Andorra Plans to Launch Fuel Discount Monitoring System “Soon”
Fuel discounts are jointly funded by the Government and petrol station operators
The Andorran Government expects to have the control system for monitoring fuel discounts operational “soon”, once the regulations implementing the temporary measures law aimed at addressing the rise in fuel prices are approved.
According to the Executive, the Ministry of Finance is continuing to draft the regulations, which will govern both the reimbursement mechanism and the control systems designed to verify that the discounts are being correctly applied at petrol stations.
Regulations Expected to Be Approved in the Coming Weeks
The Government says it intends to approve the regulations “soon”. Once they come into force, the monitoring system will be deployed to verify that discounts on fuel prices are being applied in accordance with current regulations.
The mechanism will also help ensure the proper functioning of the compensation system between the Government and petrol station operators.
Fuel Discounts to Remain in Place Until October 1
The fuel discounts are jointly funded by the Andorran Government and the petrol station sector.
During July, the measure reduced the retail price by €0.15 per litre for petrol and €0.10 per litre for diesel compared with the prices that would have applied without the subsidy.
The discount amounts will change during August and September, before the measure comes to an end on October 1.
At that point, fuel prices will return to the equivalent level they would have been at before the price surge triggered by the Iran-Israel conflict, which began last March.
