FC Andorra Beat Real Zaragoza 0-1 and Continue to Impress in Pre-Season
Sidibé’s second-half goal secured victory for the Tricolours in a friendly match in which Carles Manso’s side grew stronger as the game progressed
FC Andorra secured another pre-season victory on Thursday after beating Real Zaragoza 0-1 in a friendly played at the Aragonese side’s training ground. A second-half goal from Sidibé decided a match in which the Tricolours improved as the game went on and eventually took control.
The side coached by Carles Manso faced an intense Real Zaragoza during the opening 45 minutes. Ibai Gómez’s team pressed high and attempted to disrupt Andorra’s build-up play, maintaining a high tempo from the opening stages.
Despite this, FC Andorra created the clearest chances, particularly through attacks down the wings. Goalkeeper Westerveld prevented the visitors from taking the lead with several impressive saves, keeping the score level at half-time.
FC Andorra Decide the Match After the Break
After the restart, the Tricolours stepped up and began to dominate more clearly. Real Zaragoza appeared to tire, while the numerous substitutions allowed Andorra to control possession and keep the game in the home side’s half.
The Tricolours’ superiority eventually paid off when Sidibé capitalised on a defensive mistake inside the penalty area. After several chances that the Zaragoza defence failed to clear, the striker found the back of the net to make it 0-1.
Before scoring, Sidibé had already forced goalkeeper Manolache into an excellent save with a powerful shot from outside the box.
Positive Signs Ahead of the New Season
Beyond the result, the match allowed FC Andorra to continue building up match fitness and strengthening the positive impressions of their pre-season campaign.
The team once again displayed an identity based on possession, high pressing and combination play, allowing them to eventually overcome a demanding opponent.
Real Zaragoza competed well during the first half, but ultimately struggled to match the Tricolours’ intensity and physical strength after the break.
The victory gives FC Andorra further confidence as they continue their preparations for the start of the official season.
