Sentenced to Five Years in Prison for Trafficking Cocaine Between Os de Civís and Andorra

The Court of Corts of Andorra has sentenced a 49-year-old Malian national to five years in prison for cocaine trafficking between Os de Civís and Andorra.

As reported by RTVA, the ruling also imposes a €30,000 fine and a 30-year expulsion from Andorra once he has served his sentence. However, the court acquitted him of the charge of marijuana trafficking, for which he had also been prosecuted.

The man was arrested in November 2024 in a joint operation involving the Andorran Police and the Mossos d'Esquadra, following an investigation that led to the dismantling of a cocaine distribution point in the Catalan village of Os de Civís.

Investigation Began in Sant Julià de Lòria

The investigation began with the arrest of a motorcyclist in Sant Julià de Lòria, who was carrying a small quantity of cocaine allegedly purchased in Os de Civís.

The arrest allowed investigators to trace the supply chain and identify the alleged supplier.

The police operation culminated in the suspect’s arrest at the Runer River border crossing, where officers found 44 grams of cocaine concealed inside his body, along with cash and material allegedly used to hide the drugs.

Later, during a search of his home, officers also seized additional cash, precision scales and various items commonly used to prepare doses for distribution.

21 Months in Pre-Trial Detention

The convicted man has spent 21 months in pre-trial detention since his arrest.

His defence had requested that this period be taken into account as a reduction of the sentence. However, the Court of Corts rejected the request.

The ruling therefore establishes a five-year prison sentence, together with the €30,000 fine and the 30-year expulsion from Andorra, while acquitting him of the marijuana trafficking charge.
