Two Andorra Residents Safe After 7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Colombia
Communications with some of the affected areas could complicate efforts to locate people and contact relatives
Two people who reside in Andorra and are currently in Colombia are safe and unharmed following the powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck several parts of the South American country on Monday.
According to RTVA, the two Andorra residents were registered with the traveller registration system of Andorra’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was able to contact them and confirm that they are in good condition.
At this stage, however, it has not been confirmed whether any Andorran citizens living in Colombia may have been affected by the earthquake.
The earthquake has caused widespread concern in the affected areas, particularly in cities such as Pereira, Cali, Manizales and Buenaventura, where significant material damage and collapsed buildings have been reported.
Concern among Colombia’s community in Andorra
The earthquake in Colombia has also caused concern among the Colombian community living in Andorra. Many Colombian residents in the Principality are trying to contact relatives and friends in the affected areas to make sure they are safe.
Communication difficulties in some of the hardest-hit areas could complicate efforts to locate people and establish contact with relatives, while emergency services continue working to assess the full extent of the damage.

Earthquake hits western Colombia particularly hard
The earthquake has particularly affected western Colombia, with impacts reported in cities including Cali, Pereira, Manizales and Buenaventura. Authorities are continuing to inspect damaged buildings and working in areas where people may be trapped.
The provisional death toll continues to rise as search and rescue operations progress. Several buildings have been severely damaged or collapsed, prompting authorities to maintain rescue teams in the most affected areas in an effort to locate possible survivors trapped under the rubble.
Colombian emergency services have activated their response operations and continue to deploy rescue teams in the areas worst affected by the 7.4-magnitude earthquake, while authorities assess the damage and determine the number of people affected.
